Volunteer


By becoming a Museum volunteer you will have the opportunity to interact with an energetic group of people who have a common interest in the Erie Canal. Museum volunteers assist at Museum functions and workshops, participate in and lead children's programs, lead Museum tours, and work behind the scenes with the artifacts and exhibition installation and preparation.

A complementary Museum Membershipat the Single level is received after your first twenty hours of volunteering. If you are already a Museum Member at the Single level, you are automatically upgraded to the Canaller level which qualifies you for free admission to any of the over 70 member museums of the Council of American Maritime Museums and other benefits.
